Origin and history
This detached house, located in Dunkirk in the eccentric district, was built between 1929 and 1939. It is part of a set of 35 loties and built by François Reynaert, a native of Rosendaël. Artist decorator, inventor and public works contractor, Reynaert designed this reinforced concrete house, improvising architect for this ambitious project.
The house is representative of the modern architecture of the inter-war period, marked by technical and aesthetic innovation. It was partially protected, with the inscription of its façade and roof on the street by order of 20 December 1988. This classification reflects its heritage value within the Dunkerquois urban landscape.
The eccentric neighbourhood, of which this house is part, illustrates a period of urban and architectural development in Dunkirk.
