Origin and history

The house at 28 rue du Maréchal-Foch in Roubaix was built in 1893 by Belgian architect Auguste-Georges Dubois for his father. Contemporary to Victor Horta's Art Nouveau creations in Brussels, it is distinguished by its glazed green brick trimming and its carved decor. The three-level facade incorporates dated cartridges and female terracotta figures, while the interior retains a boxed ceiling in the living room.

The building, classified as Historic Monument since 1998 for its facade and roof, illustrates the influence of Belgian artistic currents in France at the end of the 19th century. Its architect, Auguste-Georges Dubois, combines technical innovation and aesthetics, with materials such as enamelled brick, which were not widely used in the region. The house remains a remarkable example of architectural eclecticism of the time.

The official protection in 1998 underscores the heritage value of this building, a witness to the industrial and artistic history of Roubaix. Although its access to the public is not specified, its state of conservation and its location in the city centre (28 rue du Maréchal-Foch) make it a visible landmark of local heritage. Sources refer to a location accuracy considered "passible" (note 5/10).
