Origin and history
The house in Riom, dating from the 17th century, is a mansion that belonged to the family of painter Dussourd. This monument is distinguished by its main façade on street and its inner courtyard, where there is a stairway with straight flights with rest and intermediate steps. This ramp-on-rail staircase is based on three square cores and has silts supported by intermediate pillars. The balustrade, made of stone and wood, is decorated with double pear carved balusters, giving the whole an architectural singularity.
The façade and stairwell, protected by a registration order in 1988, illustrate the constructive techniques of the 17th century. The pediment on courtyard, composed of three pillars supporting balustrade climbs, reflects a harmony between structure and decoration. The originality of this staircase lies in its architectural arrangements, combining robustness and elegance, characteristic of the urban hotels of this period.
Occupied by the Dussourd family, this house bears witness to the bourgeois heritage of Riom in the 17th century. Its designation as Historic Monuments underscores its heritage value, particularly for the preservation of its iconic interior and exterior elements. The precise location at 12 rue du Commerce allows you to appreciate its integration into the city's historic urban fabric.
