Origin and history

The house in Riom, built in 1766, illustrates 18th-century civil architecture in this city of Auvergne. Its facade, regularly pierced with rectangular bays, is framed with Volvic stones, with lintels showing low arches. The windows and the door are decorated with ironwork characteristic of local craftsmanship, while the inner courtyard houses an open gallery and a stone staircase with a wrought iron ramp.

A 16th century bas-relief, integrated under a low arch in the courtyard, depicts a Virgin of Mercy holding the dead Christ, surrounded by symbolic characters (a warrior, a prisoner, an abbot and a person with washed feet). This used chimney lintel adds a historical and artistic dimension to the building. The protection under the Historic Monuments, which took place in 1964, covers the house, the bas-relief and the staircase, highlighting their heritage value.

The exact address, 3 rue Daurat, and its Insee code (63300, Puy-de-Dôme) confirm its anchoring in the historic center of Riom. The location, noted as 'passable' (5/10), reflects the limitations of available geographic data. No information is provided on its current accessibility (visits, services).
