Origin and history

The Maison Quéré, located in Ploumoguer, Brittany, was built between 1969 and 1973 according to the plans of architect Roger Le Flanchec. This project illustrates its inventive approach, combining adaptation to the local environment and architectural innovation. The building, circular in shape and with a conical profile, is designed to withstand the strong winds of the Breton coast. Its ribbed walls, formed by curved pilasters, channel air flows, while the interior is organized around a round central courtyard, with pieces arranged in a ring.

The main room, the living room, occupies a quarter of the total surface and is the only one whose decoration was entirely completed by Le Flanchec. Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 3 December 2021, the house is located at the place called Gwarem Poul Ar Maout, on plot n°1431. Its architecture reflects a harmony between functionality and aesthetics, while meeting local climatic constraints.
