Origin and history
The Route de Chancey house in Motey-Besuche is an 18th century rural architectural complex located in the Haute-Saône department, in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. This monument, although without exceptional elements, perfectly illustrates the traditional architecture of the region, with its functional buildings such as stables, barns, houses on cellars and a kitchen with a large stone fireplace. These elements, typical of the farms of the time, reflect a spatial organization adapted to agricultural and domestic needs.
The few decorations present in this set show a certain economic ease, compatible with the image of a prosperous local peasantry. This type of construction, both modest and neat, suggests a stable rural community, where agriculture played a central role in everyday life and the economy. The listing of the house, including its appendices, courtyards and fences, as part of the Historic Monuments in 2012, underscores its heritage importance as a witness to this traditional way of life.
The monument is located at the precise address of the Chancey road, in the commune of Motey-Besuche, whose code Insee 70374 confirms that it belongs to the department of Haute-Saône. The location, although noted as poor in precision (level 5/10), allows to situate this heritage in a preserved rural setting, characteristic of the historical Franche-Comté. The absence of specific information on its accessibility or contemporary uses (visits, accommodation) suggests a mainly heritage and memorial vocation.
