Origin and history

The house at 64, 65 and 66 Quai du Havre in Rouen is a monument listed as a Historical Monument. Its inscription, dated 6 November 1953, refers specifically to facades on the dock, on the courtyard, on the street and on roofs. These architectural elements reflect a typical urban heritage of the city, marked by its port and commercial history along the Seine.

Rouen, the major city of Normandy, has always been an economic and cultural crossroads. Houses bordering the wharfs, like this one, often illustrated the prosperity of local merchants or artisans. Their preservation now allows us to understand the spatial and social organization of the city throughout the centuries, especially in the districts linked to river trade.

These buildings, although sometimes transformed, remain silent witnesses to the activities that shaped Rouen, from medieval times to industrial revolution.
