Origin and history

Aumont's vineyard house, located at 14 Reputot Street, is a typical example of 16th century wine houses. It is distinguished by its structure on cellar and its exterior staircase covered with an awning, characteristic of dual function houses, both agricultural and residential. This type of building was often associated with affluent families, as evidenced by its historical membership in the Moreal family, composed of rich peasants and notaries.

The house, classified Historic Monument by decree of 18 December 2015, reflects the social and economic organization of Burgundy-Franche-Comté in the Renaissance. It was dependent on another main house, which included living spaces and agricultural activities, stressing the importance of viticulture in the region. Its architecture, with a delimited courtyard, shows spatial planning adapted to the needs of the families involved in wine production.

The protected elements include the entire house, including its courtyard, as defined by a cadastral plan (parks B 483 and B 484). Although its precise location is considered "passable" (note of 5/10), its official address and GPS coordinates confirm its anchoring in the village of Aumont, in the Jura department. This monument offers a material testimony of rural practices and the social ascent of local families at that time.
