Origin and history

Rumigny Manor House is a historic monument located in the commune of Rumigny, in the department of La Somme (Hauts-de-France). Dating from the 16th century, it is representative of the civil architecture of this period, although few detailed elements on its construction or its original owners are available from current sources.

This manor house is partially protected under the Historical Monuments: two windows decorated with grids were inscribed by ministerial decree, first on 18 May 1926, then confirmed on 10 January 1934. These protections reflect the heritage interest of certain architectural elements, although the whole building is not fully classified.

The location of the mansion is specified in the Merimée base at address 7 Grande rue du Quai, although a GPS approximation suggests the 11 Grande Rue du Quai. This minor difference illustrates the exact geolocation challenges for some older buildings. Rumigny, attached to the district of Amiens, is part of a territory marked by the history of Picardia, now integrated into the Hauts-de-France region.

Available sources, including Monumentum and internal data from the Merimée database, do not provide information on the current use of the mansion (visits, accommodation, etc.). Its historical role in the local community, in the 16th century, could be linked to the residence of an affluent family or to an administrative function, typical of the manors of that period in rural or semi-urban areas.
