Origin and history

The Bazet mansion, located in the village of the same name in Occitanie, is an aristocratic residence built during the second half of the eighteenth century. Its architecture reflects the refinement of the Louis XV style, notably through its carved woodwork, its ramp staircase and a Campan marble fountain adorning the dining room. These interior decorative elements bear witness to the luxury and craftsmanship of the era, typical of provincial noble residences.

The property is organized around an enclosed garden, structured by a large driveway and equipped with a central well. Rural buildings, probably dedicated to food or agricultural functions, complete the whole, highlighting the residential and functional character of the estate. The hydraulic system, still present, suggests a sophisticated management of water resources, essential for a home of this standing in modern times.

Assigned to the Marquis de Bazillac, the construction of the mansion is dated 1765 according to available sources. The site has been the subject of successive protections under the Historic Monuments: the manor house and its annexes were registered by decree of 13 March 1997, followed by communes, garden, gate and hydraulic system in 2000. These measures highlight the heritage value of the whole, both for its architecture and for its landscaping.
