Origin and history

The Chevillonnière Manor House, located in Saint-Hilaire-le-Vouhis in the Vendée department (Pays de la Loire region), is a 15th century historical monument. This seigneurial mansion, built in the early 15th century, was enlarged in the second half of the same century. It is distinguished by the preservation of its interior coatings, traces of painted decorations, as well as original architectural elements, testifying to its historical and heritage importance.

The house body of the mansion has been fully protected by an inscription under the Historic Monuments since 26 August 2005. This official recognition underscores the architectural and historical value of the site. Although the available sources do not specify its current use (visits, rentals, guest rooms), its state of conservation and its location make it a significant part of the local heritage.

The location of the mansion is specified by its address in the Mérimée base: 85480 Saint-Hilaire-le-Vouhis, in the Vendée department (code Insee 85232). The accuracy of its geographical location is considered satisfactory, with GPS coordinates allowing it to be located at the approximate address of 5551 La Chevillonnière. This mansion illustrates the seigneurial architecture of the late Middle Ages in the Pays de la Loire, a period marked by a feudal social organization and a mainly agricultural economy.
