Origin and history

The Vignette Mansion is a neo-Gothic building built in 1881 by Baron Arthur-Antonin Juchault des Jamonières. Located at Cellier, near Nantes, it was built on a plot dependent on the estate of Clermont Castle, a family property. The surrounding park, designed in English in the second half of the 19th century, is set in terraces overlooking the Loire and houses remarkable trees.

The manor plan was drawn up by architect Évariste Simon in 1884. Charles des Jamonières became its owner in 1947. In 2011, the ensemble (manor and park) was listed as historical monuments. Still owned by the Juchault des Jamonières family, this site illustrates the architectural and landscape heritage of the French nobility in Pays de la Loire.

The Manor Park is next to the Clermont Castle Park, creating a coherent landscape. The materials used, stone and tuft, are typical of local constructions. Registration for historic monuments in 2011 highlights its heritage value, both for its architecture and for its exceptional natural setting.
