Origin and history

The Manor House of the City-Daniel, located in Plaine-Haute in the Côtes-d'Armor, is a 16th century building, the centre of a seigneury dependent on the Barony of Quintin. The buildings are built around a trapezoidal courtyard, dominated by a main house in the north, complemented by outbuildings and a farm. The front door, in a basket handle, is decorated with a flowered accolade and a shield with erased coat of arms, while a hemicircular tower houses the latrines.

The construction of the mansion was attributed to the Le Voyer family, the owner of the premises from 1426 to 1617. Their enrichment, thanks to successive marriages in the sixteenth century, allowed the building of the house, whose date of 1559 (now illegible) is engraved on the tower. The estate, although unprofitable, symbolized their seigneurial status in the region.

Partially classified as historical monuments in 1985, the mansion retains a main house body and facades of protected communes. Its architecture reflects an unfinished ambition, the current home representing only part of a larger project. The carved decorations, concentrated on the door, the stairway tower and the upper parts, testify to the artistic influence of the Renaissance in Brittany.
