Origin and history

The Manor House of Perdigat, located in Saint-Chamassy in Dordogne (New Aquitaine), is a historical monument dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. This one-storey house body is distinguished by its architecture characteristic of noble residences of modest size in the Périgord. It is flanked by a round tower at its south angle and a hexagonal tower on the north face, housing a staircase. The richly decorated entrance door features a pinnacle-framed arch with a sleek cabbage topped by the arch, while the windows retain cruciform sills on the north and south sides.

The protection of the mansion covers its facades and roofs, listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments by order of 29 April 1971. This building illustrates the civil architecture of the Renaissance in Périgord, combining residual defensive elements (tours) and ornaments inspired by the flamboyant Gothic, as evidenced by the pinnacles and arches in a braid. Its state of conservation and location, specified as "a priori satisfactory" (note 7/10), make it an accessible example of the noble rural heritage of this period.

Available sources, including Monumentum and Merimée data, highlight its role as a modest seigneurial residence, typical of a region where small fiefs and strong houses were numerous. No information is provided on its openness to the public, its current vocation (chambres d'hôtes, location), or possible historical owners. The approximate GPS coordinates (6 Perdigat, 24260 Saint-Chamassy) and the Insee code of the commune (24388) confirm its anchoring in the Dordogne department, formerly in Aquitaine.
