Origin and history

The Manor House of Senneville, located in Amfreville-sous-les-Monts in the department of Eure (Normandy), is a 16th and 17th century residence, partially classified as historical monuments. Raised in the 16th century by the Alorge family, a wheely bourgeois line, it was remodeled under Henri IV by Martin Alorge, then transformed in the 17th century with the addition of an interior decor and fireplaces for Charles Alorge. Its architecture thus reflects the stylistic evolutions between Renaissance and classicism.

In 1699, the mansion passed into the hands of Charles-Nicolas Godefroy, then by successive alliances to the families of Aligre and Pomereu, who converted him into a farm. In the 18th century, it was linked to the family of La Barre de Nanteuil by the marriage of Marie-Madeleine-Céleste Allorge de Gamaches with Raoul IV de La Barre in 1747. The facades, roofs, a fireplace and a decorated living room have been protected since 1975, while the carterie and dovecote, dating back to the 16th century, complete this historic ensemble.

Isolated to the northwest of Amfreville-sous-les-Monts, accessible by the Senneville road, the mansion illustrates Normandy's rural heritage. Its history combines bourgeois ascent, noble alliances and functional adaptations, as evidenced by its classified elements (gates, chimneys) and its park. In 1998, it belonged to Guy de Cournon, perpetuating a tradition of private transmission since the Ancien Régime.
