Origin and history

The Manoir des Miracles, located in Juillac (Corrèze), is a modest rural residence dating back to the thirteenth century. Medieval foundations were preserved, but the building was completely rebuilt in the 16th century. This mansion illustrates the architectural evolution of rural homes, mixing defensive heritage and reborn comfort. One of its most remarkable features is a circular scald at the southeast corner, supported by a ground five-point cap, typical of the surveillance or prestige arrangements of the time.

In the 18th century, the manor house underwent major changes, especially in the boreholes (doors and windows), reflecting the aesthetic tastes and functional needs of this period. The north facade still retains the molded base of an old turret d'oangle, whose strain has been treated with mouldings similar to those of schauguette, but arranged differently. These architectural details reflect the successive changes in the building, between defensive utility and residential embellishment.

Ranked a historic monument since 1976 (inscription of facades and roofs), the Manoir des Miracles embodies the local history of Juillac and Corrèze. Its name may evoke a legend or historical peculiarity not documented in the available sources, but its heritage interest lies primarily in its hybrid structure, combining Middle Ages, Renaissance and modern times. The exact location in the 4 courtyard of the Miracles, however, remains imprecise according to current geographical data (accuracy level: 5/10).
