Manoir du Grand Murier en Ardèche

Origin and history

The Grand Murier mansion is a monument located in the commune of Annonay, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history, limiting information to its geographical location and manor status. Manor houses, as seigneurial or bourgeois residences, often played a central role in the social and economic organization of rural or peri-urban territories.

In Annonay, as in other cities in the region, these buildings could serve as a place of local power, a place of residence for influential families, or a hub for agricultural or artisanal activities. Their presence generally reflected a marked social hierarchy, typical of pre-industrial times.
