Origin and history

The Mansion du Tertre, located in Lignières (Loir-et-Cher), was first mentioned in 1462. It is structured around a rectangular courtyard framed by two towers, reflecting a spatial organization characteristic of the seigneurial residences of the late Middle Ages. The main house, to the south, was initially separated from the chapel by a kitchen and a gallery, now transformed into a workshop. These developments illustrate the functional evolution of domestic spaces over the centuries.

The communes, reported in 1654, consisted of a complete utility set: barn, stable, stable and supply. To the east and west of the court, these buildings testify to the economic autonomy of the seigneuries of the time. The original gallery, on the other hand, was replaced by a barn, but the original arrangement of the mansion seems to be largely preserved. The whole, partially protected since 2003, preserves remarkable elements such as the chapel, the facades of the house and its chimneys.

The Mansion du Tertre thus embodies a major architectural and historical heritage of the Centre-Val de Loire region, combining residential, religious and agricultural functions. Its inscription in the Historical Monuments in 2003 underlines its heritage value, especially for its still legible medieval structures and its original spatial organization. The accuracy of its location (noted 8/10) and its address at the 2 Chemin du Tertre make it an accessible and documented site.
