Sénéchal de Merdrignac - Historical resident Busy until the Revolution.

Origin and history

The Manoir du Vieux Bourg is a building from the 2nd quarter of the 17th century (1644), located in Merdrignac, Côtes-d'Armor (Bretagne). It is distinguished by its U-shaped plane, with a rectangular central body pierced by a carriageway door and a pedestrian door. Originally he served as a residence for the senechal of Merdrignac, a position he retained until the French Revolution. The building has undergone renovations over the centuries, but retains architectural elements characteristic of its construction period.

Ranked a historic monument by decree of 29 November 1990, the mansion now houses the Mené Intercommunal Music School. Despite this cultural reallocation, its state of conservation is considered a matter of concern: recent sources indicate a risk of demolition due to its degradation. Owned by the municipality, it illustrates Breton seigneurial heritage and contemporary challenges of preserving rural heritage.

The archives mention a poor geographical accuracy (level 5/10) for its location, with an approximate address at 26 Rue du Manoir du Vieux Bourg. The site is referenced in the Mérimée base under Cadastral code YW 103, and its inscription among the protected monuments in 1990 underscores its heritage importance, despite the uncertainties about its future.
