Origin and history
The so-called Dutch mansion is a building located in the commune of Marais-Vernier, in the department of Eure in the Normandy region. This monument, whose name evokes a possible Dutch influence or origin, was officially recognized as a Historic Monument by an inscription order dated 25 October 2024. It is located precisely at 12, the place called Le Bout d'Aval, on cadastral plot No. 298, section AC.
The protection concerns the entire manor, as represented on the plan annexed to the registration order. The location of the mansion, in the Marais-Vernier, a wetland and preserved area of Normandy, suggests a link with the agricultural or artisanal history of the region. The marshes, often used for grazing or cultivation, were able to attract outside populations, such as Dutch, known for their control of hydraulics and wetlands.
Although the source text does not specify the time of construction or the exact reasons for its name, this type of manor could be used as a residence for landowners or local operators. The recent inscription (2024) as a Historic Monument reflects its heritage value and the desire to preserve this architectural and historical testimony.
