Porte de la tour Sud-Est (Case C 196): inscription by order of 19 March 1979
Origin and history
The Manor House of La Bâtie is a building located in the commune of Agnin, Isère (department 38), within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. This monument, whose exact origin and construction period are not specified in the available sources, is distinguished by its partial inscription under the title of Historical Monuments. Only the south-east tower gate, located in the cadastre under reference C 196, was officially protected by order of 19 March 1979.
Such manor houses, widespread in the French countryside, often served as seigneurial residences or fortified farms. In the regional context of Isère, they reflected a social organization marked by the presence of small local nobility or landowners. These buildings played a central role in the agricultural economy and community life, while symbolizing power and stability in often rural areas.
Their architecture, combining defensive and residential functions, bears witness to the need for security and representation of past times.
