Origin and history

The Trophée de Marius de Pourrières is a Roman funerary monument located in the commune of Pourrières in the department of Var. Filed by order of 19 November 1910, it is now owned by the commune. Its name evokes a local tradition associated with Marius, although this attribution is not explicitly confirmed by available sources.

This tomb, also called "Marius Trophy", illustrates the importance of ancient remains in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Roman funerary monuments, like this one, were used to honour the deceased and to mark their presence in the landscape. Their preservation offers a valuable testimony of funeral practices and Roman occupation in the south of France.

The location of the monument, reported as approximate with an accuracy considered "passable" (note of 5/10), is near the address "5604 Triumph" in Pourrières. Although the practical information on visits is not detailed, its status as a Historic Monument makes it an important part of the local heritage.
