Origin and history
The Menhir de Parc-ar-Menhir is a megalithic monument located in Trémargat, in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany. Data from Neolithic, it is distinguished by its extremely flat shape, with a thickness ranging from 0.20 m to 0.70 m, and dimensions of 3.40 m height for 1.90 m width. Built on a plateau, it is slightly tilted northward and carved into local granite.
The menhir was listed as historic monuments on February 8, 1967, recognizing its heritage value. Its precise location, although documented (GPS coordinates and approximate address: 5121 Lariot Min, 22110 Trémargat), remains subject to an accuracy deemed poor (level 5/10). This monument illustrates the importance of megalithic sites in the Breton region, often linked to cultural or ritual practices of the Neolithic era.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, mention its membership in all the megalithic sites of the Côtes d'Armor. A bibliographical reference, Les megalithes de l'arrondissement de Guingamp (Loïc Langouët, 2006), confirms its inclusion in regional studies on megalithism. No information is provided on its precise use or its original social context, but its legal protection makes it a preserved witness of this period.
