Origin and history
The Menhir de Pasquiou is a megalithic monument located in the commune of Vieux-Bourg, in the department of Côtes-d-Armor in Brittany. This menhir, typical of neolithic constructions, bears witness to the cultural and religious practices of prehistoric societies in this region. Its erection dates back to a period when local communities organized their territory around symbolic and funeral landmarks.
Ranked a Historic Monument by order of 21 December 1965, the Menhir de Pasquiou is protected for its archaeological and heritage importance. Menhirs, like this one, were often associated with territorial rites or markings in an era when agriculture and livestock were beginning to structure Breton landscapes. Today, there remains a tangible vestige of this distant period, accessible to visitors in a preserved rural setting.
