Origin and history

The Menhir de Tremarch (or Tremarc'h) is a megalithic monument located in Tregastel, in the Côtes-d'Armor department, Brittany. Data from Neolithic, it is 3.10 meters high with a maximum width of 0.95 meters at its base. Stained in the granite of Ploumanac'h, it was moved after its fall in 1960, when it was also classified as historical monuments.

The official protection of the menhir was established by an order of 11 October 1960, thereby recognizing its heritage value. Its current location, although different from its original site, remains close to the Calvaire road to Tregastel. This monument illustrates the importance of megaliths in the Breton cultural landscape, as evidenced by local studies, including those conducted by Anne Marchat and Michelle Le Brozec.

Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, confirm its status as a historical monument and its precise location (60 B Route du Calvaire, 22730 Tregastel). Its state of conservation and accessibility make it a point of interest for prehistory and Breton heritage enthusiasts.
