Menhir: by order of 11 March 1944

Origin and history

La Pierre de la Broudière is a menhir located in the territory of Glos-la-Ferrière, a commune of La Ferté-en-Ouche, in the Orne department of Normandy. This block of puddingue, measuring 2.50 meters in height, is inclined and date Neolithic. It testifies to ancient megalithic practices in this region, although its exact use remains uncertain.

Ranked as historical monuments since March 11, 1944, this menhir illustrates the heritage interest brought to the prehistoric remains in France. Its precise location, reported as "194 A Le Boulay Filleul-Nord", reflects a rural location, typical of the monuments of this time. No additional information on its history or manufacturers is available from the sources consulted.

Menhirs, such as the Pierre de la Broudière, were often associated with ritual, funeral or territorial functions in neolithic societies. Their presence in Normandy is part of a wider network of European megaliths, although local details about this specimen remain limited to physical and administrative descriptions.
