Origin and history

Banca Mine is an industrial monument located in Banca, New Aquitaine region. Its exploitation spans two centuries, between the 19th and 20th centuries, marking a key period in the economic and social history of this rural area. Mines, like Banca, played a central role in the territories where they were located.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, they often structured local life, providing jobs and attracting workers. In areas such as New Aquitaine, mining could also influence the economic dynamics, transport and even urban planning of surrounding villages. These sites, now often abandoned, remain important testimonies of the French industrial heritage.
