Origin and history
The feudal motte of Cours, located on the town of Arlanc in Puy-de-Dôme, is a vestige of a castle very probably built of wood, perhaps from the 11th century. Today, only the castral mound and traces of ditches to the north, belonging to an outer enclosure, remain. This site is mentioned on the cadastre of 1837 under the name of château de la Bâtisse, highlighting its local historical importance.
The monument was entered in the inventory of Historical Monuments by order of 26 December 1984 under the reference feudal motte (Box ZB 60). Owned by the commune of Arlanc, its present state does not allow to accurately restore its appearance or its exact role in the Middle Ages. Available sources, such as the Merimée and Monumentum base, confirm its ranking but remain limited on architectural details or occupants.
Location of the site, noted as 5266 Course on GPS coordinates, is estimated with fair accuracy (note 5/10). No information is provided on its current accessibility, whether it be visits, tourist services or contemporary uses. The historical data focus on its primitive defensive structure, typical of medieval castral mots, without mentioning specific characters or events related to this place.
