Origin and history

The Georgette-Dupouy Museum is an art museum located in Dax, Landes department. He bears the name of the painter Georgette Dupouy, in tribute to her work and her artistic heritage. This cultural place is part of the museum landscape of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, offering a space dedicated to temporary exhibitions and the promotion of contemporary artists.

In 2020, the museum experienced a 50% decline in attendance due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Only two exhibitions were held that year. The first, dedicated to artist Christian Carrère, was inaugurated in January but interrupted on 15 March, on the eve of the closing of the museum. After its reopening on May 11, an exhibition by the sculptor Claude Millot was presented. From October to December, the abstract sculptor Florence Baille, known as Flore B, exhibited her works.

The following years saw the resumption of activities with various exhibitions. In 2022, sculptor Guillaume Boisson was honoured from May to June. On October 7 of the same year, a collective opening presented five artists, including sculptress Nicole Feugas. In 2023, from April to June, an African art exhibition was organized by Bertrand Marc Duclaud, thus diversifying the museum's cultural proposals.
