Origin and history

The Hansi Museum is a cultural space entirely dedicated to the work of illustrator artist Hansi, pseudonym of Jean-Jacques Waltz. Located at 28 rue des Têtes in Colmar, it presents a permanent collection of 700 works, distributed over an exhibition area of 250 m2. This artistic background allows us to discover the satyrical and regionalist world of the artist, marked by his attachment to Alsace.

The building that hosts the museum today was originally a bookshop, a place already dedicated to culture and knowledge. This reassignment to a museum space has preserved and enhanced Hansi's graphic heritage, while anchoring its heritage in the historic heart of Colmar. A second place, The House of Hansi, completes this cultural offer in Riquewihr, stressing the importance of the artist in the region.

No information is available about the museum's attendance, its detailed history or the precise stages of its creation. Current sources focus on its current vocation and location, without mentioning any significant events related to its evolution or management. The museum is nevertheless part of the landscape of institutions dedicated to Alsatian artistic memory, alongside other museums in the Upper Rhine.
