Origin and history

The Saint-Véran is a religious monument located in Aureille, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Listed in the Historical Monuments by order of 22 July 1935, it is distinguished by its location on the edge of Avenue de la Porte, near Avenue de la Gare. Its architecture and location reflect a local tradition of buildings dedicated to devotion or commemoration, typical of provençal villages.

The oratories, frequent in Provence, often served as places of prayer, stops for pilgrims or spiritual landmarks in the heart of the communes. Aureille, although little documented in available sources, is part of this rural religious heritage.
