Origin and history

The Pavilions of the Inspection Grid are integrated into the National Estate of Rambouillet Castle, an architectural and landscaped complex of historical importance. Their precise location, at 5 Rue de la Motte, links them directly to the history of the castle and its outbuildings, now protected by a decree of 2024. These pavilions, although poorly documented in available sources, enjoy heritage protection as part of a classified domain.

Decree No. 2024-472 of 24 May 2024 fully classified the interior parts of these pavilions under the title of historic monuments, highlighting their heritage value. This classification is part of the preservation of the Domaine national de Rambouillet, a site linked to the history of France and its architectural heritage. Their current status places them under the responsibility of the State, guaranteeing their conservation and development within the wider framework of the royal domain.
