Facades and roofs of the three inner pavilions (cad. 06:03 BC 3): inscription by decree of 22 January 1979

Origin and history

The Pavilions, located at 137 rue de Sèvres in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, are an architectural complex dating from the 19th century. These three interior pavilions, whose facades and roofs are protected, illustrate the architectural style of this period in Paris. Their location, although specified with average accuracy (note 5/10), remains a point of interest for Parisian heritage lovers.

The monument was inscribed under the title of Historic Monuments by order of January 22, 1979, reflecting its recognized heritage value. The information available mainly comes from the Merimée database and Monumentum, but details of their historical use or sponsor remain unknown. Their exact address, confirmed by GPS coordinates, is 135 or 137 rue de Sèvres, in an emblematic area of the left bank.

At the time of their construction, the 6th arrondissement of Paris was a place of urban transformation, marked by the major Haussmannian works. The pavilions, although less imposing than the neighbouring private hotels, reflect the evolution of bourgeois lifestyles and the importance attached to the aesthetics of private spaces. Their preservation now allows us to study 19th century construction techniques and architectural tastes.
