Origin and history
La pierre de criée de Saint-Maixent-sur-Vie is a historic monument located in the cemetery of this commune in the Vendée department, in the Pays de la Loire region. Ranked by ministerial decree on 8 July 1926, it is one of the few preserved remains of the former local church, now extinct. Its current location within the funeral enclosure suggests its past role in the religious and community life of the village.
