Cadoret Bridge (former): by order of 29 April 1931

Origin and history

The Cadoret d'Argenton-Château Bridge is a historical monument located in the commune of Argenton-les-Vallées, in the Deux-Sèvres department (79), in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. This old bridge, whose exact construction is not dated in the available sources, was inscribed by ministerial decree on 29 April 1931. Today it belongs to the commune and is located on Rue du Pont-Cadoret, near the city center.

The location of the bridge is considered "very satisfactory" (note 8/10) according to the geographical accuracy criteria. Although the practical information about his visit or current use is not detailed, his status as a Historic Monument underscores his heritage importance. The data available are mainly from the Merimée database and the Monumentum platform, without mentioning any specific historical events related to its construction or past use.

The Cadoret Bridge illustrates the architecture of the local art works of the early twentieth century or earlier, typical of the small rural communes of western France. These structures often played a key role in local exchanges, facilitating movement between villages and agricultural areas. Their preservation reflects communities' attachment to their built heritage, even when the archives are lacking to trace their detailed history.
