Origin and history

The bridge of Perronet is an art work located in Brunoy, Essonne department, Île-de-France. It was designed to cross the Yerres River. Its construction took place in the fourth quarter of the 18th century, between 1784 and 1787, under the direction of Jean-Rodolphe Perronet, the first director of the École des ponts et chaussures. This bridge illustrates the civil engineering of its time and remains an architectural testimony of this period.

The Perronet Bridge was classified as historic monuments on 1 July 1991. This classification recognizes its heritage value and its importance in the history of construction techniques. Located on Rue du Pont, it is today a landmark in Brunoy's urban landscape, while being integrated into the public domain.

Jean-Rodolphe Perronet, a renowned engineer, marked the history of French architecture by his achievements. This bridge is named after its pioneering role in the training of engineers and the design of sustainable works. The structure, still in place, reflects the quality of its design and its harmonious integration into the local environment.
