Origin and history
The bridge over the Lison is a building located in the municipality of Cussey-sur-Lison, in the Doubs department, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. Built in 1793, it crossed the Lison on the old road between Cussey-sur-Lison and Lizine, then towards Cléron and Amancey. This bridge, of modest dimensions (19 meters long and 3.30 meters wide), is characterized by its two arches in the middle forming a donkey back, as well as a central pile equipped with a fore-beek prow upstream.
The monument was included in the inventory of historic monuments on 17 July 2003, recognizing its heritage value. It is located downstream of the Moulin du Bas and allows to pass from the left bank to the right bank of the Lison. Owned by the municipality, it is still visible today, although its exact location is estimated as "passible" (level 5/10) according to available sources.
Architecturally, the bridge illustrates 18th century rural construction techniques, with a structure adapted to local hydraulic constraints. Its inscription as a historic monument underlines its importance in the built heritage of the Doubs, while at the same time testifying to the pre-industrial communication networks of the region. The archives mention its role in connecting several villages, facilitating local exchanges before the modern era.
Available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) indicate that the bridge is located at approximately 6 Chemin du Lison, although its exact location in the cadastral registers remains imprecise (non-cadastral area, public domain). No information is provided on possible characters related to its construction or history after 1793.
