Portail (old) from Annay-la-Côte and back to Marcilly: inscription by order of 25 April 1955
Origin and history
The portal currently visible in Provency is an architectural element originally from Annay-la-Côte, a municipality located in Yonne. This portal, whose precise dating is not mentioned in the available sources, was moved and reassembled in the hamlet of Marcilly, in the territory of Provency. Its listing in the Historical Monuments Inventory by order of 25 April 1955 bears witness to its heritage value, although details of its style or sponsor remain unknown.
The current location of the portal, at approximately 20 Way of the Bergerie in Provency, is estimated to be "passable" (note 5/10) in terms of geographic accuracy. Owned by the municipality, this architectural vestige illustrates the practices of re-use of monumental elements, common in periods of reconstruction or transformation of buildings. No information is available about its accessibility to the public or its current use (visit, rental, etc.).
