14th Century Gate (Cd. AC 92): Registration by Order of 26 March 1927
Origin and history
The door of the tripot "Out of here the quarrelers" is a historic monument located in Chartres, dating from the 16th century. Its sizes consist of two pillars decorated with arabesque inside and diamond outside. Two identical capitals bear a tympanum adorned with a shell and a Latin inscription meaning "Outside the quarrelers".
The area reportedly housed a tripot, or palm game, known as the "Jeu de palme de Jérusalem". This door, located at 3 Place Collin-d'Harleville, was probably the main entrance to this entertainment venue. Its architectural style and ornaments reflect the artistic influences of the Renaissance.
The door was classified as a Historic Monument by order of 26 March 1927, thus protecting its 14th century elements. Despite an approximate location (precision noted 5/10), it remains a notable architectural testimony of local history, linked to games and public gatherings of the time.
