Origin and history

The Relais de poste de Guérins is a building located in the commune of the same name, in the department of Ain, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Built in the 17th and 19th centuries, it reflects the importance of transport and communication infrastructures at these times, serving as a stage for travellers and their mounts. This type of building played a key role in the organization of travel, especially for the royal and then imperial post, facilitating exchanges between regions.

The post relay was partially listed as historical monuments in 1981, before being fully classified on 10 March 2016. This protection applies not only to the main residence, but also to buildings linked to its winery, as well as to outdoor areas such as the courtyard, the garden and the park. The whole is representative of local architecture and economic activities, combining logistic functions and agricultural production.

Today, the Guéréins post office relay is located at 5058 Chemin du Chardonnât, although sources also mention an alternative address at 117 rue du Centre. These differences may reflect urban developments or transcription errors in heritage databases. The monument remains a notable example of the Ain's rural and logistical heritage, integrated into the official lists of historical monuments of the department.
