Origin and history

The Pra-Plot Farm is an emblematic building of the Ardèche Mountain, located at 1,270 meters above sea level on the edge of a plateau, between the municipalities of Sagnes-et-Goudoulet and Péreyres. Its architecture is distinguished by a steep juniper roof, characteristic of local pailisses, and a prominent fireplace. Although not represented on the map of Cassini, its foundation probably dates back to the eighteenth century, as evidenced by the recording in 1759 of the birth of Marie Philippot, suggesting a construction around the middle of this century. Originally, Pra-Plot was said to have served as a barn dependent on the Puzol farm, located further south.

The building, in excellent condition of conservation, illustrates the traditional agricultural lifestyle of the Ardèche. Its inscription in historical monuments in 1985 by ministerial decree underlines its heritage value. The farm embodies the architectural adaptation to the climatic constraints of the middle mountain, with local materials such as roofing. Its geographical isolation also reflects the dispersed organization of farms in this region in the eighteenth century.

Administratively attached to Péreyres (Insee code 07173), the farm is located precisely at 1000 Chemin de Praplot. Its name, meaning pre flat, evokes its topographic environment. Although the sources do not specify its current use (visit, accommodation), its classification in the Merimée base and its status as a historical monument make it a privileged witness to the ardéchois rural heritage. The archives only mention its inscription in 1985, without further details on any restorations or significant owners.
