Origin and history

The Pezu prehistoric deposit is an archaeological site classified as Historic Monument since 1982. It is distinguished by its vestiges dating from the ancient and middle Paleolithic, offering an overview of the first human occupations in the region. The protected elements, referenced under plots ZH 84, 85, 86 and 98, attest to its heritage importance.

Located in Pezu (code Insee 41175), in the Loir-et-Cher department in the Centre-Val de Loire region, this deposit is managed by an association. Although its precise location is considered mediocre (note 5/10), it remains a key marker of local Prehistory. Available data are mainly from Monumentum and the Merimée archives.

The site illustrates the lifestyles of prehistoric populations, including their livelihoods and environmental adaptation. These deposits, often linked to hunting or collecting activities, play a crucial role in understanding the first human societies in Europe. Their preservation allows us to study the tools, habitats and cultural practices of these distant times.
