Origin and history
The remains of L'eccentric Moulins, located in Dunkirk, are the last testimonies of an iconic Dancing built in 1939. This establishment, designed by François Reynaert, an entrepreneur and decorator from Rosendaël, was designed to animate the eccentric district, of which he was also the promoter. The building and its fence, inscribed in the Historical Monuments in 1988, reflect the architectural audacity and festive spirit of the era.
François Reynaert, a versatile figure, combined the roles of inventor, public works entrepreneur and designer of this place of entertainment. His project was part of a dynamic of urban modernization, combining architectural innovation and cultural ambition. Today's protected remains, including the fence and the caisse building, recall the importance of this place in the pre-war social life of Turkey.
