Origin and history
The property known as Le Moustier, located in Montgeron (Essonne, Île-de-France), is a historic monument whose entrance pavilions date from before 1640, while the main house was built in the early eighteenth century. These architectural elements reflect the styles of the 2nd quarter of the 17th century and the first half of the 18th century, typical of bourgeois or aristocratic residences of this period.
The house was inhabited and modified by Carolus Duran, a character associated with his history. The facades and roofs of the main building as well as the two entrance pavilions were protected by an inscription under the Historic Monuments on 27 September 1971. Today, the property belongs to a private company, and its access to the public (visits, rentals, accommodation) is not specified in the available sources.
The location of the property is indicated at 1 rue du Pont-du-Bart, although GPS coordinates also suggest a proximity to the rue de l'Ancienne Église. The accuracy of this location is considered satisfactory a priori (level 6/10), according to the data of the Merimée database. No additional information is available on its current use or openness to the public.
