Origin and history
Le regard du Chaudron is a technical work allowing access to a pipe, located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. It is now in the courtyard of 6 Palestinian Street, after having been initially located on 2 Palestinian Street. This building is integrated with the slopes of Belleville Hill, an emblematic district of the capital.
The gaze was first protected as a historic monument on 4 November 1899. However, this order was rescinded to allow its inclusion in a broader set of Belleville waters. A new classification measure was formalized on February 6, 2006, confirming its heritage value. The monument is now owned by the municipality of Paris.
This look illustrates the history of the water systems in Paris, especially those linked to Belleville, a historic water supply system. Its current location, visible from the street of Palestine, makes it a discreet but significant witness to the industrial and urban heritage of Paris. No information is available on its contemporary use (visits, public access).
