Castle (rests): inscription by order of 17 July 1926

Origin and history

The monument known as Restes de Château fort is located in Vic-le-Comte, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Dating from the 12th century, it represents a typical example of medieval fortifications of this period, although its precise history and subsequent transformations remain partially documented. In medieval times, castles played a central role in territorial organisation and the protection of local populations.

In areas such as the Auvergne, these structures served as strategic checkpoints, often sheltering local lords or garrisons. Their presence reflected the political and military dynamics of the time, marked by feudal rivalries and the need to secure the lines of communication.

Future

The castle of Busseol is open to visit during the summer season.
