Origin and history
The remains of the Beaugency enclosure constitute a 16th century defensive vestige, classified as a Historical Monument. This monument consists of an imposing wall, about ten meters high, framed by two partially destroyed towers. These fortifications illustrate Renaissance military architecture, when cities were still protected by ramparts adapted to new siege techniques.
The enclosure is located Place Nationale in Beaugency (Loiret), in the region Centre-Val de Loire. Its listing in the inventory of Historic Monuments by decree of 18 August 1944 covers several cadastral parcels, stressing its heritage importance. The preserved elements, though fragmentary, offer a material testimony of the urban defence systems of the modern era.
The location of the enclosure, noted with an accuracy deemed satisfactory (note 7/10), corresponds to the current address of 2 National Street. No information is available on its accessibility to the public or on possible contemporary reuse (visits, events).
