Origin and history
The farm on the Roche de Villers-le-Lac is a historic monument built between 1777 and 1778. It perfectly illustrates the architectural model of the farms to be killed in Haut-Doubs, characterized by strong pastoral activity and polyculture. Its gable, very developed and cut to the Roberso, is covered with tavaillons, a technique typical of the region.
This farm was designed to meet local agricultural needs, with a pastoral dominant adapted to the relief and climate of Haut-Doubs. It was classified as a Historic Monument, with specific protection for its facades and roof, by order of 18 December 2001. Its architecture reflects the constructive and economic practices of the late eighteenth century in this rural area.
Located in Villers-le-Lac, in the Doubs department, this farm is a testimony of the traditional agricultural organization of Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Its location on the Roche, as well as its structure, show an ingenious adaptation to the geographic and climatic constraints of the region.
