Origin and history

The Roman Way of La Turbie is an emblematic monument located in the municipality of La Turbie, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. This ancient vestige illustrates the importance of the road infrastructure built by the Romans to connect their territories and facilitate commercial, military and cultural exchanges. In south-eastern France, Roman roads played a central role in the organization of the territory.

They allowed not only the displacement of legions, but also the economic development of local cities. These roads, often constructed with great technical rigour, crossed a variety of landscapes and linked the main urban centres of the region.
