Origin and history

The Salle des Feuillants de Soissons was built between 1926 and 1928 as part of the vast reconstruction project of the city after the destruction of the First World War. This building, designed as a meeting and performance room, embodies the municipal effort to give Soissons modern cultural and social infrastructures. Its facade, typical of the Art Deco style, and its reinforced concrete structure with brick filling reflect the techniques and aesthetics of the time, while symbolizing the city's resilience.

Ranked Historic Monument by order of 24 July 2008, the hall is fully protected (cadaster AK 44). Today it belongs to the municipality of Soissons and bears witness to local urban history, especially through its architecture and its role in collective life after 1918. Its official address, 8 rue des Feuillants, and its Insee code (02722) place it in the department of Aisne, in the Hauts-de-France region (former Picardie).
